Matthew’s engagement with photography happens primarily through a conceptual lens, exploring a myriad of subjects. These have included astronaut training in Iceland, his Victorian ancestor photographer, and most recently an intimate project about gardening which will combine photography with poetic writing.
Having started out as a documentary photographer, the focus gradually shifted from being an outsider to fulfilling a more active, interior presence. A long-term aim is to continue diversifying as a practitioner with teaching as an additional, symbiotic role that operates on a humanistic model.
