Mount St. Bernard Abbey is a Roman Catholic, Trappist monastery founded near the town of Coalville, Leicestershire in 1835.
In the month of August 1890, it was reported in the Leicester Daily Mercury that a ceremony with solemn blessing had taken place to appoint Dom Wilfred Hipwood as abbot of Mount St Bernard abbey. The authors third great-grandfather was the photographer on this occasion.
